Saturday Nov 11–2017 Siouxland Cyclists Annual Banquet Meeting
2017 Siouxland Cyclists members—and our new VELO Members---we want you back!!!! Come celebrate cycling 2017 and look forward to cycling 2018.
When: Saturday November 11. Happy hour starts at 5:00.
Where: NEW LOCATION Hillview Recreational area. The beautiful Park Nature Center. Located on C-60—one mile west of Hinton.
Silent Auction: There will be a silent auction for new or gently used cycling gear and knick knacks.You are welcome to sell or trade your booty or donate the proceeds to the Siouxland Cyclists Bike for Kids Program(see below) Happy Hour will be followed by the banquet, program, awards and election of officers and board members( interested in getting involved in the club, its programs and projects—see below)
Banquet: Catered by Central Catering from Haywarden. If you pay your dues—(see below) cost of the meal is only $5 a person. Meal will include Beverages, a Buffet—with 3 meat entrees, salads, vegetables and ice cream for dessert. If you want a veggie option, please let Kati Bak know or reply to this email a veggie option.
RAGBRAI vintage beer will be available, but you may want to bring your own adult beverages as well. In fact strongly encouraged to bring your own adult beverage if you do not want leftover cases of RAGBRAI beer.

Dues: $20 for single and/or family membership. Pay your dues on or before November 11—cost for the Banquet is $5 a person. Otherwise cost is $15 a person. You can pay your dues now on the Siouxland Cyclists Website at http://www.siouxlandcyclists.org
Why pay your dues?: Your dues support free public access to biking because Siouxland Cyclists does not charge for any of its rides. The Club is not all about “the ride.” In 2017 the Club financially supported the Food Bank of Siouxland’s Hunger Games, Helmets for kids, Bike for Nature Calls Fundraiser, Fundraiser for Theresa Brent, and Bike for Kids. The Club also has and will support the efforts of expanding and improving the Siouxland Trails. P. S. If you pay your club dues-you basically eat for free at the Spring and Fall Banquet.
Silent Auction: You can bring new/gently used biking gear, and knick knacks for sale, trade, or donate the proceeds to Siouxland Bike for Kids program. Siouxland Cyclists supports the Bike for Kids program with sweat equity and cash. Bikes for Kids gathers old and used bikes over the year and refurbishes bikes for kids that cannot afford bicycles. The club also provides Kids with new helmets.
Election of Officers, Board Members and volunteers for special projects: The club elects its Officers and Board Members annually. President/Vice President/Secretary and Treasurer. There are 7 or so Board member positions. Nominations are taken from the floor. You can also express your interest to be nominated by contacting Kati Bak prior to the meeting. The officers and Board meet the 3rd Monday of the month at Alfredos Pizza.
Volunteers: The club is also looking for volunteers.
Ride Coordinators- The club organizes weekly rides (March-October (Daylight Savings time) on Wed-Wed Warriors and Thursday Club Rides. Coordinators also organizer rides on about every weekend weather permitting from January through December. Coordinators also organize special occasion rides (New Years Day, Bike to Work, 4th July, Ride of Silence, Halloween)Club members also participate in the very popular Taco Tuesday rides. Notifications of these rides are posted almost on a daily basis on the Facebook pages of Siouxland Cyclists, Wednesday Warrior, Thursday night Club ride, and the club’s RAGBRAI page. Please friend them all.
Siouxland Cyclists is also on the lookout for a Family Ride Coordinator volunteer for next year.
RAGBRAI volunteers: The club sponsors a weeklong RAGBRAI Adventure.
Volunteers for Special Projects: B Safe B Seen Style Show, Bike Rodeo for kids, Helmet awareness event, Hunger games, Frank Brinkerhoff Challenge, Cranksgiving food drive to benefit the Food Ban of Sioux Land. Submit your ideas for projects.
New Ideas and General club volunteers: Safety Director to educate the public on the rules of the road and safety. Activities to celebrate Bike to Work and Bike to School. Membership. Public relations and social media. SC Annual Spring Banquet and Fall Banquet. If you have any other ideas or want to serve—please let us know.
